Welcome to the Warwick Children’s Book Festival! We hope you will enjoy your visit and go home with wonderful memories and books. The Festival will be held on Warwick’s Railroad Avenue if the weather’s dry; if not, it will relocate to the Warwick Valley Middle School. (Details below.) Here is the schedule:
11:00am – 4:00pm: chat with and purchase books from more than 70 distinguished authors and illustrators of children’s books. They will happily inscribe your new books!
11:00am – 3:00pm: at the tent on the Green, make a simple, free craft to take home. Free face painting available, too!
11:30am: listen and watch Sign Language Storytime, in which two picture books will be read and signed (in American Sign Language) simultaneously. Teen volunteers spent the summer learning and rehearsing Be A Tree, by Warwick resident Jordan P. Novak, and Bad Kitty by Nick Bruel.
12:00pm – 1:30pm: enjoy a free, lively concert for children on the Green, featuring The Uncle Brothers. Bring a lawn chair, blanket or towel to sit on, if you’d like! Picnics are welcome, too.
12:00pm – 2:00pm: sign up (in person) to read to a certified Therapy Dog: Dusty, Coalby or Emma. All of them love to listen to stories and are very attentive. Bring one of your new books to share with one of them! The dogs’ owner/handlers will be present throughout.
IN CASE OF RAIN: the Festival will relocate to Warwick Valley Middle School at 225 West Street in Warwick, 11:00am-4:00pm. There is ample parking on site. All events will take place as listed above. Enjoy the festivities while staying dry!
